George Dobson Praises Teammates as the Saddlers Grab an Awayday Point

Walsall midfielder George Dobson has spoken to club journalists following Saturday's one-all draw with Barnsley, and praised his teammates efforts as they left it late to snatch a share of the spoils, with summer signing Andy Cook grabbing his fourth goal of the season, and stopper Liam Roberts continuing his fine form between the sticks.
Dobson, who has been captaining the side in the absence of Adam Chambers and Joe Edwards, praised Cook as the striker saw his spot in the starting XI disappear as manager Dean Keates opted to match the Tykes' formation switching from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3, forcing Cook onto the bench.

Harold Wood-born Dobson admitted that he was pleased to see Cookie make the most of his short time on the pitch as the second-half substitute hit the back of the net just seven minutes after taking to the field.

Speaking via the club's official website - Saddlers.co.uk - George said; "It is a squad game. Sometimes the gaffer will change his team selection and then you have got to just keep your head and be ready for when you are called upon.

"Cooky has come on with 10 to play and he has made the difference. That is all you can ask for from someone who has come off the bench. It was a great chance for Jack but we always talk about getting people out of trouble.

"Jack didn’t finish it off, but that is where Cooky has come in and made up for it. Even after that we had one or two more counters where we could have gone and nicked it.

"It was a really positive performance away from home and it’s now seven games unbeaten. We can take that into next week, have a good week's training heading into Doncaster and hopefully make it eight."

20-year-old Dobson also offered praise for goalkeeper Liam Roberts as the Walsall-born stopper, who is in his first full campaign as first-choice stopper, continues to impress between the sticks, often pulling off a string of superb saves to deny the opposition.

George added; "Robbo is a fantastic goalkeeper in this league and he will get us out of a bit of bother because of the way we play. We play at full throttle so we will sometimes leave ourselves a little bit open and that is when you need your goalkeeper to save you and Robbo does that when called upon all the time."
