Young Walsall defender Kory Roberts, who signed his first professional contract in May 2016, has spoken to the local press and discussed the progress he has made over the course of the 2016/17 campaign.

Kory, who has made two appearances so far this season, spoke to the Express & Star's Saddlers correspondent Joseph Masi, and said; "I enjoyed playing those two games and I've been on the bench a few times as well which helps build up my confidence. All the older, more experienced players have helped me a lot and given me guidance and good advice.

"The season has gone a lot better than I thought it would but it' still been hard to get used to the high-tempo play. It's a lot faster and more physical and the mistakes you make are more likely to be punished.

"But I feel I have progressed a lot in the last year. I've come a long way and being around the first-team has helped me mature and become a better player."
