Reece Flanagan Suffers Injury Setback

Walsall midfielder Reece Flanagan, who has not played a first-team match since tearing his anterior cruciate knee ligament in April, has suffered another injury setback, which will see him miss the rest of the season.

BBC Sport reports that 22-year-old Flanagan, who recently extended his contract with the Banks's Stadium club, dislocated his shoulder during the Saddlers' Central League clash with Morecambe, which took place at the Globe Arena on Wednesday afternoon, and will not feature for the remainder of the campaign.

Walsall manager Jon Whitney spoke to BBC Sport, and offered a brief update on Reece, revealing that he will be visiting a specialist as he begins on the road to recovery, he said; "He's seeing a specialist, as he's done it before. It's a bit of a dampener, but he's in good spirits as at least he wasn't his knee. When I saw him go down, I thought maybe it was his knee. But this might be a mixed blessing because it now gives him a bit longer with his knee.

"He won't be back this season but he'll still be fit and contracted for next season, and it gives him the chance to come back even stronger."
