Assistant Referee in Hospital After Falling Ill on Saturday Afternoon

The second-half of Saturday afternoon's Sky Bet League One clash between Bolton Wanderers and Walsall was delayed by over fifteen minutes due to an incident involving Assistant Referee Helen Byrne.
The second-half of Saturday afternoon's Sky Bet League One clash between Bolton Wanderers and Walsall was delayed by over fifteen minutes due to an incident involving Assistant Referee Helen Byrne.

It is believed that Byrne, who is from Merseyside, was taken ill shortly after the half-time whistle and was treated by Paramedics at Bolton's Macron Stadium before being transferred to a local Hospital, where she is currently undergoing tests and treatment.

The EFL have confirmed that they are aware of the situation and hope top provide an update soon.
