Young Goalkeeper Departs

Walsall Football Club have today confirmed that young goalkeeper Chandler Hallwood, who joined the Saddlers on non-contract terms earlier in the season, has left the club after not being offered a permanent deal.

19-year-old Hallwood joined Walsall after leaving former club Bradford City and has been working with goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler in a bid to earn a long-term deal, this has not been successful and he will now seek employment elsewhere

In a statement, released via Sadders.co.uk, the club confirm; The Club can today confirm that young Goalkeeper, Chandler Hallwood, has left the club following a decision not to offer him a long term deal.

As news of Hallwood's departure was confirmed Neil Cutler spoke to club journalists and wished the stopper well for the future, he said; "We brought him in because we saw him in a fixture last season and he had something about him. We’ve been honest with him and in order for Chandler to get something long term he really needed to be pushing the younger keepers we’ve got at the club.

"Having had a look at him for a while now we didn’t think he’d be able to catch up with where Robbo and Craig currently are. For me, it has to works as a chain of progression. The second choice keeper needs to be pushing the first choice, the third needs to push the second and so on.

"He certainly improved during his time here but didn’t quite have enough to earn something long term. I wish him all the best and hope he manages to find a route into first team football."
