DOWNING TARGETS HOME COMFORTS

Walsall Football Club vice-Captain Paul Downing has spoken to the club's official website ahead of Sunday evening's Sky Bet League 1 clash with Gillingham, and has discussed the importance getting back to winning ways at Banks's Stadium, as the Saddlers haven't emerged victorious in the last three home games.

Speaking to Saddlers.co.uk, Paul said; "It's important that we concentrate on getting back into winning ways at home. It was a great boost to get to Wembley earlier this week, but it was also nice that we were able to keep clean sheets in both legs against what is a strong Preston side.

"We have to keep this momentum going and move up the table. Anyone can beat each other in this League and we have a lot of games coming up.

"We have to take each game on its merits and work hard in order to take the positives from the situation that we currently find ourselves in.

"It's important that we concentrate on our performances as individuals and as a team to ensure that we are challenging up at the right end of the table.

"Our record against the top teams has been good so far; we have proved what we are capable of and hopefully we can get the result that we all want against Gillingham."
