RETURNING TRIO SET FOR CUP ACTION

Later today Walsall Football Club's Reserves side take on Stoke City Reserves in the opening group game of the 'Final Third Development League Cup', at Chasetown's Scholars Ground.

Jordan Cook, Ben Purkiss and Matt Preston are all expected to take part in the match, after missing various lengths of time through injury.

Cook, who appeared on the bench during last weekend's 3-0 demolition of Doncaster Rovers, will be hoping to earn a place during this weekend's clash with table-topping Bristol City.

Ben Purkiss will be making his second reserve appearance of the season after missing the whole of the current campaign through an ankle injury, which he picked up during the opening week of the Saddlers' pre-season trip to the South-West.

Matt Preston has also missed the whole of the current season via a thigh injury, and will be keen to make an impact as he seeks to make a breakthrough to the first-team.

Shrewsbury Town and Port Vale are also part of the group, which is 'Group A' in the Northern Section of the tournament.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 2:00pm, and admission is £2 (adults), £1 (concessions) and free for 2014/15 season-ticket holders on production of your season-ticket booklet at the turnstile.
