On Saturday morning, Walsall Football Club's Under 18's side played host to Burnley Under 18's, in their latest Football League Youth Alliance (North West) fixture of the season.

The Saddlers went into the game undefeated in the league, their only blemish being a 0-0 draw with Accrington Stanley during the second week of the season.

The Clarets, who have played one game less than their opponents, sat ninth in the league with two wins, three draws and one defeat.

It was Walsall who took the lead, thanks to a Tevin Shakespeare strike on the seventh minute. The Saddlers were pegged back by a Khius Metz penalty for the Clarets with just over ten minutes of the first half remaining.

Walsall re-took the lead thanks to Luke Delaney's second-half strike, this was followed up by a Romario Reid goal for the home side, this was enough to secure all three points for the Saddlers, and stretch their unbeaten run to eight league games.

F/T: Walsall U18 3 (Shakespeare, Delaney, Reid) Burnley U18 1 (Metz PEN)
